Verizon tech helps you Be Prepared at home or on the trail
CHATTANOOGA, TN – Since the early 90s, Henry Flood from Epikos Comics and Games and I have always lived by the motto of “Be Prepared.” We both made our Eagle Scout rank in the late 90s and in general feel like we are prepared for most situations. This week our Verizon Tech Expert Winnie Wright is going to help us be prepared with new Tech from Verizon.
“Here in the South, we know how quickly the weather can turn. One minute you’re hiking, you’re strolling a river, and the next thing you know, the skies open up and you’re dealing with a severe weather situation,” says Wright. “Hiking in a hailstorm, any number of things. And the thing is, is that now is the time to be prepared instead of waiting for those emergency situations to go, ‘Wait, I actually need some of this stuff.’”
Staying connected in the great outdoors is imperative to most. Be it an emergency or just wanting to make sure you don’t miss anything important, Verizon can help with that.
“That’s where satellite messaging is key. You know, it’s all about peace of mind. Whether you’re up on Signal Mountain, deep in Prentis Cooper, or just in an area where the storms have impacted coverage. But what is satellite communication and how does it work?” says Wright. “Phones with satellite capability are now able to connect to a network of satellites. So even though there may be no cell signal, users can send text messages or location information via satellite. In order for this to work, you have to have a clear view of the sky and the horizon. Think an old school satellite dish.”
The next question you probably have is ‘Am I paying extra for Satellite messaging?’ Not according to Winnie.
“Verizon was the first in the industry to not only offer free satellite messaging,” says Wright. “But also to guarantee it for all customers on any of our my plans with satellite capable devices like those here.”
Good news because the last thing you want to worry about is if you’re paying extra for a feature. Thankfully it’s all part of the package with Verizon.
Staying connected also means you need to stay charged so Winnie also brought us the Anchor Solar Portable Power Station. “This can recharge a phone over 20 times. It can power a Wi-Fi router for almost a full day,” says Wright. “It can keep your lights running for hours. It’s a great addition to your storm kit or even your getaway bag. And if you want something a little smaller, I always keep this on me. It’s the nimble champ. It’s lightweight. It can charge two devices at once. It supports Apple and Android, and it can keep your phone going for up to three days.”
Thanks to Verizon, they have the tech to keep us connected on the go, or at home during a power outage. Stay safe this summer, stay connected, and definitely….be prepared.
