Volkswagen Adds 1,000 Jobs to Chattanooga Location
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) — This summer, Volkswagen is releasing the ID 4, it’s first electric SUV.
For some, that means one more option in the electric automotive market, but, for Chattanoogans, that means 1,000 new jobs.
“For that vehicle and the growth, due to customer demand, of our Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport, we’re adding a thousand new production positions to our factory,” said Amanda Plecas, Communications Manager for VW Chattanooga.
The entry-level pay rate for these jobs is $19.50 an hour, but, over time, an employee could earn as much as $28.50 an hour.
Applications for the positions can be found online at wearevolkswagen.com, and those interested can apply now.
“These one thousand production positions are available in all of our shops. Which shop you would be in would be determined on your physical, your medical assessment, things like your height,” Plecas said.
For the first time in the factory’s history, candidates will be given a job offer immediately upon completion of an interview.
“We’re doing conditional job offers, on the spot. So, it’s a very easy process — after you complete your phone interview and you go into the new recruitment center, you’ll have an interview; they’ll give you a conditional job offer; and you can go right down the hall and do your medical assessment, and, if everything is good to go, then you will be able to schedule your first day at the plant,” Plecas added.
The jobs also come with medical benefits and a 401K opportunity for new hires.
