Volkswagen delays ID.7 Sedan in America

This model, not made in Chattanooga, was scheduled to go on sale later this year

RESTON, Va. (WDEF) – Volkswagen seems to have hit a bump in the road for their new ID.7 Sedan.

The company has decided to delay introducing the sedan in both the U.S. and Canada due to “market dynamics” changes.

But they point out that the ID.7 SUVs are doing well in America.

The company says the ID.7 brand saw strong sales in the first quarter with a 27.5% growth. The SUV segment led the way.

“We remain committed to electric mobility—this year we have enhanced the range and performance on our all-electric 2024 ID.4 SUV, and we are thrilled to welcome the iconic Microbus back into our lineup with the arrival of the 2025 ID. Buzz in Q4,” Volkswagen explained.

The Chattanooga plant is currently making the Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport SUVs.

Volkswagen has also mover their all-electric ID.4 to the Chattanooga plant and is equipping it to make their electric vehicles.

In Wednesday’s announcement, Volkswagen did not say when the ID.7 sedan will actually go on the market in our country.

The American market has been tough on sedans, overall, the last few years.  SUV’s and pickups now dominate the market.
