Volkswagen Halts Diesel Sales in U.S.
New York (WDEF) – The Wall Street Journal reports that Volkswagen AG stopped sales in the U.S. on Wednesday of thousands of diesel engine vehicles.
The company told dealers to stop selling 2013-2016 models of VW and Audi cars with 3.0-liter diesel engines.
Earlier this week, a spokesman said the opposite.
He disputed the EPA claims of more emissions rigging and said the company would continue to sell those vehicles here.
But since then, Volkswagen has admitted to the expanded tampering.
And on Wednesday, the European Commission threatened new fines against the company for the latest revelations.
Volkswagen has also announced a new round of recalls that have nothing to do with the emissions scandal.
The problem is with the camshaft lobe which could cause loss of power for the engine and braking system.
The recall includes the 2015-16 Passats.
