Volkswagen laying off administrative workers at Chattanooga plant

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Volkswagen announced they are laying off a small number of workers at their Chattanooga plant.

They describe the number as less than 50.

The layoffs will only affect administrative and salaried workers, not hourly ones.

Company officials say the layoffs are part of a global cutback to improve efficiency.

Here is the statement provided by Volkswagen:

“Volkswagen is implementing a global performance program to drive efficiency and cost savings at its core brand. Some salaried and administrative positions in our U.S. business are impacted. Hourly workers in our assembly plant are not impacted. As with any reorganization, we are supporting our employees through this transition.”
