Volkswagen Offers $3,000 Bonuses to Production and Maintenance Staff, New Hires

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) — Amid an attempt to hire 1,000 new employees before the end of the year, Volkswagen Chattanooga has announced that all production employees, maintenance staff, and team leaders will receive a bonus of $3,000.

Additionally, any employees hired between now and October 31 will receive a $3,000 sign-on bonus.

“This launch appreciation bonus is well-deserved. We are on track for the start of the ID-4 assembly this summer. A clear testament to the dedication of our team,” said Burkhard Ulrich, Vice President of Human Resources, Volkswagen Chattanooga.

But the announcement doesn’t stop at a $3,000 dollar bonus.

Volkswagen will also offer a $2,500 relocation stipend for eligible new hires.

“As we grow our team, to help meet rising customer demand and implement a third shift, we believe the sign-on bonus and the relocation bonus will help us become an even more attractive employer in the region,” said Ulrich.

These announcements follow last weekend’s job fair, which saw a turnout of hundreds of jobs applicants.

“Over the weekend at our job fair, we had over 500 applicants, and we’re really encouraged to see applicants come in every day, throughout the week,” said Amanda Plecas, Manager of Communications, Volkswagen Chattanooga.

Volkswagen also addressed rumors that the new VW bus might be produced in the region.

“We are very confident. We want to grow in the market. We want to be a very prominent and relevant player in the US car market, so I’m quite sure there will be even more decisions to come in the future, but, as of now, there’s no decision taken yet,” said Ulrich.
