Volkswagen unveils new ID.7
They call this their electric Passat
(CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story indicated the ID.7 would be made in Chattanooga based on the head of Volkswagen Group of America saying “The ID.7 will join the ID bus and the ID.4, which we will produce in Chattanooga, in the state of Tennessee.” Volkswagen Chattanooga says he was only referring to the ID.4.)
BERLIN, Germany (WDEF) – Volkswagen held a world premiere on Monday for it’s latest all-electric vehicle, the ID.7.
The company has loosely called this their electric version of the Passat.
The ID.7 is the company’s first global electtric model for the upper mid-size sedan.
It will go on sale in Europe and China this year and in the U.S. next year.
Officials confirmed the ID.7 will be made in Chattanooga.
Volkswagen Group of America CEO Pablo Di Si said this morning at the New York unveiling event “The ID.7 is an important vehicle for us in North America.”
The new vehicle promises distances up to 435 miles (depending on the size battery you get), and can be charged up to 80% in 25 minutes.
Though the EPA will not post a range estimation for the car until closer to the U.S. launch date in 2024.
The ID.7 also comes with a new drivetrain. Volkswagen officials call it their most most powerful and highest-torque electric motor in an EV so far.
Extras include massage seats, glass settings for the sunroof, and a memory system for the last 50 yards you have traveled to handle parking assist functions.

EPA-estimated range is not yet available and will be released closer to the North American launch date.
The ID.7 is Volkswagen’s 6th EV vehicle. The company promised to launch 10 of them by 2026.
