Vols Coach Josh Heupel Leads Big Orange Caravan Into Chattanooga

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Vols coach Josh Heupel drove the Big Orange Caravan into Chattanooga Monday.
Gotta be a fun stop since Tennessee is coming off their best season in decades.

You’ll obviously see a bunch of orange on the big orange caravan tour.
And now Vols fans are seeing a bunch of points in Josh Heupel’s up-tempo offense.
Tennessee led the nation last year at 46 points a game.
Heupel:”Well we want to score everytime we’ve got the ball. At the end of the day we want to win football games. That’s the most important thing. The number we played the most attention to is the record. At the end of the day we’ve got to get to Atlanta, and we’ve got to conitnue to grow as a program.”
Saw a lot of growth last season with an 11-2 record, and it continued in the off-season with five players going in the NFL draft.
including quarterback Hendon Hooker to Detroit.
Heupel:”That’s a team he spent a lot of time with that was very intentional with him. It’s an opportunity for him to grow. Get healthy. Get on the field. Compete and have an opportunity to become the face of that franchise.”
Heupel’s offense is not a pro system, but it’s delivering pros at wide receiver.
Jalin Hyatt and Cedric Tillman are the latest two wideouts to be drafted.
Heupel:”Over the last three cycles or three drafts, we’ve had five wide receivers (drafted) I’ve had more wide receivers drafted in the last three years than any other college coach. I think that speaks to what we’re doing. How we’re developing those guys.”
While Heupel has been speeding up the offense, the NCAA will now speed up the game.
next year, the clock won’t stop on first downs, except the final two minutes of each half.
Heupel:”It’s not going to change how the game is played for any offense or any style. When it’s set, we’ll be ready. It shortens the game.”
2024..the SEC adds Oklahoma and Texas, and the SEC is still trying to figure out what to do with the league schedule.
Reporter:”Josh are you still kind of Switzerland on the eight or nine league game debate?”
Heupel:”I don’t know if I’m Switzerland, but like I have no affect on what’s going to happen on that. I think it’s important you keep traditional rivalries, and you get a chance to play those games that mean a bunch to your fan base and those guys inside your locker room too.”
