Vols Coach Rick Barnes Addresses Questionable Calls in LSU Game

We’ve seen old photos come back to haunt politicians.
Now will it do the same to an SEC basketball ref?
After some controversial calls against Tennessee in their overtime loss to LSU, a four year-old photo of referee Anthony Jordan holding up an LSU jersey saying ‘Go Tigers’, made the rounds on social media.
Jordan officiated Saturday’s game.
Vols coach Rick Barnes had issues with the some of the calls in the Tigers game, and the photo likely didn’t make Barnes feel better.

Reporter:”There’s a picture of one of the referees from LSU, Anthony Jordan, holding up an LSU T-shirt with quote unquote, Go Tigers. Was just wondering if you were aware of it after a game like that with so many controversial calls. How does that sit?”
Barnes:”(sighs) I am aware of it. Obviously it has been brought to my attention. All I can tell you is that I’ve got trust and faith in the SEC office that I know they are going to do their due diligence and look at it. I just think they will handle it the way it should be handled.”
Reporter:”Clarify from the first question. Have you contacted the SEC office regarding the Facebook connection?”
Barnes:”I have. I have been in contact with them since the game a couple of different times, and I appreciate them and what they talked to me and what we talked about. Like I said I have full confidence that they are going to do the right thing.”
Reporter:”Have you had a chance to go over that final play where Grant (Williams) picked up a foul with less than a second left. And just what are your thoughts on that now that you have had a chance to go back and look at it.”
Barnes:”Well my thought is that’s a tough way to end a basketball game. I mean it’s a tough way. I’d hate to see it happen to anybody for a game to end like that, but I don’t want anybody to think we are blaming the officials for anything. LIke I said, the SEC will do their due diligence on what they think. We’ve got to worry about what we have to do to be the team we want to be and make the plays when we need to make them. And we’ll learn from it. You know what, we’re pretty much in the same situation we were a year ago right now coming down the stretch. Again, we’ve got a chance to play. We’ve just got to worry about our next game.”
