Vols Coach Rick Barnes Not Thinking Retirement
When Rick Barnes was fired as the Texas head coach ten years ago, there were a few who thought he might not coach again.
Instead, Barnes took the Tennessee job, where he has been ultra successful.
But now he’s 70 years-old.
So is he thinking retirement after UT’s run in the Big Dance?.
Said Barnes at the Vols NCAA presser in Indianapolis:”The athletic director at the time Steve Patterson fired me. He didn’t really fire me. He just carried out what God wanted him to do. I really truly believe that God brought me to Knoxville for a reason. Everything that I do I want to live on that platform. It’s the most important thing to me. It’s more important than winning that game tomorrow. I think God will make it perfectly clear when he wants me to step down, and my time will be up, but it’s not now.”
