Vols Expect Tough Test Against Southern Miss in Super Regional

The Vols baseball team will need to be super this weekend in order to advance to the College World Series.
Tennessee must beat Southern Miss in the Super Regional to clinch a trip to Omaha.

Tennessee thought they might get to host the Super Regional, but they had to load up the bus after the Golden Eagles were awarded the site. Vols third baseman Greiffin Merritt says no big deal. The bigger issue is facing Southern Miss pitcher Tanner Hall. He has 12 wins this season, which is tied for second most in the nation.

Said Merritt:”We would have loved to be at home, but we anticipated going on the road. If they told us to go to the moon and play we would go to the moon. We don’t really care about where we are going to be. yeah we started to look at Hall. He has a really good arm. In this league we faced a lot of really good Friday night type arms. Sometimes you just have to weather the storm a little bit. I don’t. I hope we put up 20 runs on him, but nobody has so I’m not going to think that’s exactly what we are going to do.”

Game one is 3pm Saturday on ESPNU.
