Vols Josh Heupel Digging His Offense on Day One of Fall Camp

It’s officially football time in Tennessee. The Vols held their first practice of fall camp Monday.
Their season kicks one month from today against Ball State. It’s year two for Josh Heupel and his up-tempo offense.
He spoke after practice about what he likes so far offensively after day one of practice.

<Reporter:”Just the eye test. Do you feel it’s safe to say you’re faster. You’re more athletic with all the transfers and freshmen coming in.”
Heupel:”I think we are deeper with some of those transfers and the young guys inside of our program. The people we’ve brought in our program. I think we’ve added athleticism and speed. The ability to move and be in funcitional football positions.”
Reporter:”Squirrel White looked awfully fast and quick out there. What does he bring as well?”
Heupel:”He’s not slow. That’s for sure. Squirrel is competitive. Really smart. Mature in the way that he handles himself in the building and in the meeting room. Physically taking care of his body. Without watching the film I thought the two young running backs Justin and Dillon had a really good day with some things that they did that popped out to me as a coach. For Hendon, and I said this to him. It’s not about stats or touchdowns. Intereptions matter. It’s yards. It’s about wins.”
Reporter:”How do you size up the tackle. The offensive tackle competiiton with those main four guys?”
Heupel:”Great competition. Everybody is competing there. They’re long. They’re athletic, and they’re best football is in front of them.”>
