Vols Players Quizzed About New Head Coach Jeremy Pruitt at SEC Media Days

The Vols Jeremy Pruitt enjoyed plenty of success as an assistant coach in the SEC, but how will he do as a head coach?
That’s a question that really couldn’t be answered Wednesday at SEC Media Days, but Pruitt’s players seem to like his no nonsense style and his coaching accomplishments.

Said defensive end Kyle Phillips:”Just seeing a coach that has a track record of so much success. It definitely gives me and my other teammates a lot of confidence, especially on the defensive side. Just knowing that he has produced great defenses.”
Said tight end Eli Wolf:”He said we will win. Coming from a place that has won championships, we all just have to buy into what he does say, and I believe we will win.”
Said Pruitt:”Our fan base is hungry. Our players are hungry. As you go across the southeast, you encounter so many Tennessee fans. They’re everywhere. You can feel the passion. You can feel the energy, and it excites me. And it’s an honor to have a chance to represent this fan base.”
Reporter:”We’ve all seen Jeremy Pruitt as that no nonsense coach right now. In the few months that you have been able to work with him, have you seen the opposite at all? Has he ever loosened up around you guys? You have a story that you can elaborate on for that?”
Said receiver Marquez Calllaway:”I have not. (chuckles) Coach wants to portray like a strong man, and that’s what he has. Discipline and toughness. But he has come around a lot. We have seen more smiles and him loosen up around us.”
