Vols QB Nico Iamaleava Reportedly in Concussion Protocol

The injury news doesn’t sound great for Vols quarterback Nico Iamaleava ahead of Saturday’s game with Georgia.
According to the Knox News Sentinel and ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Iamaleava is in concussion protocol.

Nico was hurt against Mississippi State, and he did not play the second half. If he can’t go against the Bulldogs, then back-up Gaston Moore will start.

The unknown status for the Vols at quarterback  also affects Georgia.

Said Georgia head coach Kirby Smart:”In this situation we don’t know. There is prep there, and Nico is such a high level athlete. Some of the runs he has made. I knew the kid was a great thrower, but I didn’t know he was this kind of athlete. Hitting the speeds he is hitting on the GPS wise. Made a run on Alabama that was really elite. Then trying to prepare for kind of two guys. Philosophically, I don’t know how they will approach it with the other quarterback.”
