Vols-South Carolina Proving to be a Tightly Contested Rivalry

Tennessee-South Carolina is certainly not the biggest rivalry in the SEC, but it sure delivers the drama. The last six games between these two teams have been decided by six points or less. Last year’s contest on Rocky Top went down to the wire. Tennessee trailed 15-9 in the final seconds. They got it to the Gamecocks two yard line, where they somehow ran two plays in the final four seconds and could not convert. The Gamecocks are favored by a touchdown Saturday night in Columbia, and head coach Will Muschamp is counting on another doozy. Said Muschamp:”They’ve always been closely contested games in our first two seasons. There’s no doubt it will be a great environment here at Williams Brice on Saturday night. I don’t know who is keeping the clock on the field. I know they got about 12 plays in three seconds last year. That was unusual.” (chuckles)
