Volunteer Call: Help Celebrate National Land Day with TVA & Volunteer

(WDEF) TVA is using National Public Lands Day to recruit volunteers.

They are inviting the public to take part in a variety of outdoor activities on Saturday for National Public Lands Day.

The closest event to us is a six mile paddle trip on the Tellico Blueway (provide your own kayak).

You’ll need to register beforehand.  Get more info on the trip here.

TVA hopes that this weekend’s outdoor adventurers will also volunteer.

National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest single-day volunteer event for public lands.

“For over 80 years environmental stewardship has been a cornerstone of TVA’s mission of service to the Valley,” said Rebecca Tolene, TVA vice president of Natural Resources. “National Public Lands Day reminds us that we are the caretakers of our public lands, and it is our responsibility to preserve these resources for generations to come.”

Each month, we give out the Do The Right Thing award to a volunteer in our area.

Go to our Do The Right Thing page here at WDEF.com to meet our latest winner and find out how to nominate someone.
