Volunteer Call: NW GA United Way Day of Caring

Dalton (WDEF) The United Way of Northwest Georgia is in the middle of their Make A Difference Day events for this year.

They hope to break the one thousand mark of volunteers this year to assist in several community projects on Friday and Saturday.

Make A Difference Day began 15 years ago with a hundred volunteers.

It has grown each year since then to 973 last year.

Renewing Our Spirit by Painting the Bruin Wall

When: Saturday, October 24th from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Location: Northwest Whitfield High School, 1651 Tunnel Hill Varnell Rd., Tunnel Hill
Description: Volunteers are needed to provide new life to the wall that surrounds the tennis courts and outer area of the football stadium by putting on a fresh coat of Bruin blue paint
Volunteers needed: 40

Crafts at Camp Misty Mountain

When: Saturday, October 24th from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Location: Girl Scouts – Camp Misty Mountain, 490 Lake Marvin Rd. NE, Armuchee
Description: Volunteers will facilitate various activities for Girl Scouts and their families
Volunteers needed: 8

Think, Feel, Act: Community in Action

When: Saturday, October 24th from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Location: NWGA College & Career Academy
Description: Volunteers will help set up, give books away, participate in booth activities, and clean-up at the parent education fair
Volunteers needed: 80

Packed with Care

When: Saturday, October 24th 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Location: Whitfield Meals on Wheels, 1419 Ross Drive, Dalton and Murray Meals on Wheels, 217 E. Market Street, Chatsworth
Description: Volunteers will make cards and pack goody bags for homebound elderly
Volunteers needed: 20 in Murray County and 20 in Whitfield County

Murray County Developmental Center

When: Saturday, October 24th 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Location: 735 W. Chestnut Street, Chatsworth
Description: Volunteers are needed for painting, creating a permanent sitting area for the clients, and outdoor clean-up
