Volunteers collect over 6 thousand pounds of trash from lake
SODDY-DAISY, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Chickamauga Lake Cleanup Weekend landed 6,526 pounds of trash.
It is a two part cleanup series hosted by Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful and presented by iSustain.
A total of 17 volunteers hit the lake at Soddy-Daisy Friday night and Saturday.
They pulled out:
• 142 bags of trash
• 13 tires
• 3 steel drums
• 359 square feet of Styrofoam
• 130 lbs. of scrap metal
• 86 lbs. of random plastic
• Two 55-gallon plastic barrels
• 60 lbs. of fire hose
KTNRB Executive Director Kathleen Gibi says “It’s great to see local river champions inspiring others in their community to care for this precious river of ours.”
