Volunteers needed to place wreaths at Chattanooga National Cemetery

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Wreaths Across America organizers are in need of volunteers for this weekend’s event in Chattanooga.

Wreaths will be placed on grave stones at the National Cemetery to honor the veterans.

Organizers say they do this to remember those who served.

Volunteers will start showing up at 8 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, to unload all the wreaths. The event will then start at noon.

Organizers say the ceremony would not run as smoothly if it wasn’t for the volunteers.

“The ultimate destination of the wreath is on the gravestone and that is achieved only through the volunteers. The volunteers give just like the veterans, they give the greatest gift one could give and that is the gift of themselves in doing that,” said Mickey McCamish, an organizer.
