VW Academy Graduates Excited For New Car Lines and New Program Offers Engineering Graduates VW Career Options

CHATTANOOGA,TN, (WDEF)-Speakers and officials from German and the US congratulated  Volkswagen academy graduates of 2014.

The new Chattanooga technicians have spent 3 years preparing to work in a variety of areas at the highest level in the automotive industry.

"Its a day of celebration for the Volkswagen families and their graduates but for one man it’s been a long journey from being a pizza delivery boy in St Elmo to being a Volkswagen technician in Germany"

Alex Bizzell, VW Academy Graduate,"Mr T’s pizza in St Elmo for about 6 years and delivering pies and i’ve also done that the entire time i’ve been at VW so just jumping between a locally owned business to Volkswagen which is a much more substantial business is quiet different"

Bizzell says he is excited to bring the skills to new VW car lines both in Chattanooga and overseas.

"Machining, i’ve always liked machinery and seeing how they performed i get to use how to learn a mill and a lathe, and a CNC machine that’s something i never thought id be able to operate so those three things are cool and i also get to play with robots"

Congressman Chuck Fleischmann says he is excited knowing we will have more Chattanoogans working on locally made cars.

"These individuals have done a tremendous job they have studied hard, they have learned their skills, now they have a tremendous job skill, wonderful career path ahead of them, this is what’s great about here today, we want this to continue not only in the third district but all across America"

VW also announced a new specialist training program for those who already have an engineering background.

"Recent graduate in bachelors of engineering and its 18 months of comprehensive training program with a cap stone project in the engineering departments" says Ilker Subasi.

All graduates from both program are guaranteed jobs afterwards and can spend time overseas with VW in Germany.

The new engineering specialist program for college grads aims to kick off later this year.
     Both the VW academy and the new specialist program will be fully certified by the German Chamber of Commerce.
