Walker County looking for driver in fatal hit and run
WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — Investigators are looking for the person responsible for a fatal hit and run Tuesday morning in Walker County.
Orange markers and a smashed mailbox stick out at this property on Marble Top Road. Horace Cribbs was about to do yard work for family members, when his daughter, Bryanna Edwards, says he was hit and killed by a driver, who then took off.
“He was a good grandpa and he took my kids to school this morning because I worked third. He had just dropped my daughter off at school and came to do yard work and he had just gotten out of his car and the car hit him,” Edwards said.
Investigators say the car is a blue/green 2005 Hyundai Sonata. It is missing both headlights as well as the front bumper cover, the tail lights are broken out, and there was heavy damage to the passenger side door. They say the driver was a man, was wearing a hoodie and was heading towards Highway 136.
“I just want him to turn himself in because he didn’t deserve to be left on the side of the road like garbage. He was a good man. He provided for me and my kids my whole life and he helped me when I couldn’t provide from them,” Edwards said.
Cribbs’ family members are hoping if people have information, they come forward.
“Just report it. Let us have some peace for this senseless crime and this senseless death. He didn’t deserve this. He was a man that would help anybody, give you the shirt off his back,” Shannon Cribbs said.
Cribbs was well known in the community.
“There are tons of people that know this man and know what a good person he was and we just need to get some closure on it,” Shannon Cribbs said.
If you have any information about this case, you are asked to call police.
