Walker County man arrested for elder abuse
WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — The Walker County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for a domestic disturbance on Sunday.
On June 25, just before noon, the sheriff’s office responded to 2057 Old Bethel Road, where they say a man assaulted his 81-year-old grandmother.
They arrested 39-year-old Jimmie A. Goins on charges of aggravated battery and elder abuse.
The man pushed the grandmother against a wall and forcibly took her keys, according to the sheriff’s office. The grandmother received a thumb injury and arm redness from the incident, police said.
Afterwards, they say the grandmother went to a neighbor’s house and called 911.
Deputies originally had issues with taking Goins into custody.
The Walker County Sheriff’s Office made a statement in his arrest:
“Initial responding deputies were unsuccessful in getting Goins to come to the residence’s front door. After repeated attempts, the Special Operations Group (S.O.G.) were summoned to the residence. After about one hour the S.O.G. made a soft entry into the residence and took Goins into custody without incident.”
Deputies took him to the Walker County Jail, where he has a $50,000 bond.
This is not the first time Goins has faced arrest for these kinds of actions.
In 2016, we reported that Jimmie A. Goins injured a deputy while resisting arrest.
