LAFAYETTE, Ga. — A Walker County jury has convicted 24-year-old Christian Austin Raines for sexually assaulting two minor family members.

A child disclosed Raines has locked the child in a bathroom and sexually assaulted them in June of 2021.

Another young family member also disclosed Raines had been molesting them too.

During an interview at the Children’s Advocacy Center, the younger child disclosed additional criminal acts by Raines that occurred in the bathroom, according to the L.M.J.C District Attorney’s Office.

The child also said that Raines’s sexual abuse had been happening for years and had recently gotten worse.

Both children’s medical exams showed evidence of molestation.

“Let me be clear: in other circuits, monsters like this might squeeze out a soft plea. In the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit, we take you to trial. David Wolfe is a fearless prosecutor. We don’t hand out deals because we’re scared to pick a jury—we fight for the toughest sentence the law allows. You hurt a child in this community, and we will come for you. And we won’t miss.”

– Clayton M. Fuller, District Attorney for the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit said.

Raines was convicted on all 8 counts of sexually-related crimes against the children including: Rape, Aggravated Child Molestation, Aggravated Sexual Battery, Child Molestation, and False Imprisonment, according to the L.M.J.C District Attorney’s Office.

Judge Brian House sentenced Raines to a life sentence with the first 30 years to be served in prison.
