Walker County Woman Defends Medical Marijuana

A Walker County woman we interviewed says marijuana is a miracle drug.

She is part of a growing number of people who support medical marijuana.

In a new CNN ORC Poll, 55 percent of those questioned said marijuana should be made legal.

The 62-year-old supporter who does not want to be identified, says, she’s been battling anorexia her whole life.

At one point she weighed just 97 pounds.

She tells us the nausea is unreal.

One day her local doctor asked her if she had ever experienced marijuana.

"He said, well honey, I heard it increased your appetite."

Since then she has been smoking marijuana, but not religiously.

At one point, she tells us she gained 18 pounds in 6 months, getting her to a much healthier weight.

"I do believe marijuana would be the best thing that they could be giving these young teenage girls out there that’s got this because they’re dying left and right," says the Walker County woman.

More than 20 states have already legalized medical marijuana, but not a single state in the Southeast has jumped on the band wagon.

"I don’t think they know how to control the substance, " says the woman.

But if Georgia does legalize it and others follow suit, could it become the next American industry?
