Walmart makes back to school shopping affordable during sales tax holiday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Sales tax weekend is quickly approaching in Tennessee and Walmart is making back-to-school shopping affordable.  This is by providing low priced items to customers.

“We really want to get this event and going to kick off the school year. We think this is going to be the largest sales that we have had in the last few years for back to school,” said Patrick Stewart, General Manager of Walmart Super Center. “We want to make sure when the customers come in, they get what they want and what they need.”

According to Savings.com, parents are expected to spend an average of $592 on school supplies this year.

Patrick Stewart says the sales tax holiday this weekend will benefit parents who have recently been affected by inflation.

“Since tax free weekend coming up, not only they can have the saving from that, but we also offer everyday low prices. A lot of our items we have on roll back,” said Stewart. “We took our Top 14 bestselling back to school items from last year and made them the same price for this year.

Walmart is offering supplies for students from kindergarten to college.

Teachers are also now able to register school supplies lists at Walmart during Tennessee sales tax holiday

Walmart officials say these lists will help parents find the right supplies for the classroom.

“Teachers can create a registration on the Walmart app. Students and their parents can come in and buy directly from the app and for their classroom. It helps the teachers out,” Stewart concluded.

Walmart is also offering back to school immunizations as well as low prices glasses for children.
