Walnut Square Mall Reopens Shortly After Hoax Bomb Threat
Dalton, GA (WDEF) – Walnut Square Mall was briefly evacuated this afternoon, due to a hoax bomb threat.
Bruce Frazier, with the Dalton County Police Dept., told News 12 officers received a call shortly after 3:30 p.m. The bomb threat was phoned into Sears.
The mall was evacuated for about 30 minutes, while officers swept the building. After the threat was determined to be a hoax, the mall was reopened.
"This is something we, as law enforcement, take very seriously," said Frazier ,"Even though it turned out to be a hoax, it’s something you have to take seriously."
