Walnut Street Bridge’s annual Festival
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Walnut Street Bridge Festival made its much-anticipated return for its third year, drawing crowds to celebrate one of Chattanooga’s most iconic landmarks.
Although the Walnut Street Bridge is currently closed for renovation, the spirit of the event remained strong as it moved to the scenic Coolidge Park.
Festival-goers enjoyed a lively atmosphere filled with delicious food trucks, live entertainment, and a KidZone area packed with activities for children of all ages.
Organizers expressed their excitement, explaining that the event was designed to offer something for everyone — from local cuisine to family-friendly fun.
Local businesses set up shop, offering an array of unique products and handmade goods.
The vendors elaborated on how the festival provides an important platform to showcase their work and connect with the community.
Families, couples, and friends alike strolled through the park, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and supporting small businesses.
Kaitlin Dills, a local vendor, expressed her enthusiasm about the event, stating:
“Today we are celebrating the Walnut Street Bridge. Unfortunately, it is closed this year for renovation, so we are out here at Coolidge Park! We’ve got a lot of great activities, local vendors — just enjoying the weather.”
Dills’ words captured the heart of the festival — celebrating tradition while embracing change.
She explained that although the location had shifted, the sense of community and excitement remained unchanged.
With summer just beginning, the festival served as a perfect kickoff to the season.
Organizers elaborated that the event was free to the public, welcoming all to come and enjoy the festivities without the burden of an entry fee.
As the festival came to a close, one thing was clear: Chattanooga’s sense of community thrives, even when faced with challenges.
Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the next free weekend event — it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy local culture, support small businesses, and create lasting memories.
