Waupaca Foundry in Etowah shutting down some production

ETOWAH, Tennessee (WDEF) – A national company announces that they are shutting down production lines at their plant in McMinn County.
Waupaca Foundry just outside of Etowah is idling its melt, molding and core room operations.
They will continue the iron casting processing at the plant.
There is no word yet on how many employees this will affect.
But the McMinn County Economic Development Authority has pledged to support those who do lose their jobs.
“MCEDA will assist in sponsoring a job fair as well as support employees with knowledge of the local benefits and services available in our community.”
Waupaca has a long history in the county. Their clients are primarily automakers in the region.
They say their current plant was built from the ground up in 2001 and uses a high degree of automation.
