Ways to keep your kid in shape while sports aren’t happening

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn (WDEF) – This is normally the time that spring sports kick off but for now, everything has been put on hold.

Health experts say this shouldn’t stop you and your kids from getting your reps in and some much needed activity. 

Since most sports are cancelled and teams aren’t  playing, There are ways parents can help their children prepare for a sport until things are back to normal. 

First, Choose a skill they need to strengthen for the sport they currently play.

Like throwing the football in the backyard, working on those grounders or pop flys for softball and baseball.

They can also practice their serve for their next tennis match.

And don’t let the rain stop you, there are still ways to get in shape inside your home.

You can play a game of balloon volleyball, have a dance party, or even play the floor is lava by finding creative ways to not touch the ground in your garage or living room. 

You can also take this time to foster a pet from your local shelter. This is a great way to do a trial run for you and your kids, before adopting a pet permanently.
