What Ring of Power can you properly wield?

Viewers ask what is the best activity tracker ring so we have to call in some super hero help.

CHATTANOOGA, TN –

Todays Tech Byte comes from viewer mail.  Eric asks us for help deciding on the best sleep ring.  We called in all the experts but unfortunately Hal Jordan is out celebrating his 65th anniversary.  Fortunately, that’s not the only superhero we know.

Our research to find the best sleep ring was aided by competitive body builder and hormone expert Mandy Livingston from Optimize U. They directed us to Oura Sleep Rings who were nice enough to send us some information on them.

Oura was started on Kickstarter in 2013 and to date has sold over 2.5 million rings worldwide.  The ring itself is made from a diamond like anti-scratch coating and only weighs about four grams. It will track sleep, stress, wellness and many other things to keep your body running in optimal condition.

“Originally, what I got it for was, for sleep. When you’re in the bodybuilding realm, in the health and fitness realm, you want to know what’s the best and most optimal way to perfect my sleep?” says Livingston. “So with that, I was introduced to Oura by another friend. And when I got it, it did exactly that. It was telling me everything about my sleep, where I was in my sleep, how long I slept, when I should go to sleep. So those were things that I was not necessarily banking on, but at the same time, it would tell me my heart rate. It even tells me my stress levels.”

I purchased one for our news director and it does in fact measure stress very accurately.  Every time I walk into his office and tell him I have a great idea for Tech Byte, it never fails to raise his stress levels but we always work it out.

Ouras app can help you learn best times to go to sleep, how long and what level of quality sleep you have, and it can help with diet and exercise plans as well.  No, it doesn’t plan them for you but it will tell you which foods raise cortisol and stress levels and when is the optimal time of day for your body to train.

According to Mandy “It will help you figure out if you are getting sick. For instance, I don’t get sick very often, right? Not to brag. I do not get sick very often. However, when I did, it told me three days ahead of me actually feeling the symptoms. So it told me that during my sleep, my body temperature was rising above its normal level and sure enough three days later I was out sick.”

Oura does say they are not a medical device designed to treat, prevent or cure any diseases. But they also claim to be the most comfortable, accurate, and lightweight wearables in the industry today. For more information about Oura you can visit them at OuraRing.com.
