What’s Trending? Adults Ruin Easter Egg Hunt, Batman v. Superman Breaks Records, & Who Needs Algebra?

An Easter egg hunt organizer compared pushy parents to locusts after the hunt turned into a shoving match at the visitor center of candy company Pez. The event in Orange, Connecticut drew hundreds of people, some of whom ignored the rules and didn’t wait for the starting time. Pez General Manager Shawn Peterson says people “rushed the field and took everything.” Event organizers placed more than 9,000 eggs on three fields with the intention of having staggered start times for each age group.

Who needs Algebra? Most U.S. educators would say everyone does. But political scientist Andrew Hacker offers an opposing view in a provocative new book, arguing algebra has become an unnecessary roadblock that forces millions of students to drop out of high school or college. Opponents say math just needs to be taught better.

A controversial anti-vaccination documentary has been pulled from the Tribeca Film Festival. Actor and festival co-founder Robert Deniro announced “Vaxxed: From Cover up to Catastrophe” will not be screened as a part of the festival. The movie was directed by Andrew Wakefield, the former doctor whose now-discredited research claimed a link between autism and the MMR vaccine.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” ushers in a new day of dominance at the box office. During its first weekend in theaters, the latest in the comic book adaptation series took in a massive $170-million. That’s the sixth best opening weekend ever… and best March opening, besting “the Hunger Games.” While critics haven’t been kind to it, so far, movie audiences don’t seem fazed. The film made $424-million worldwide this weekend.

Why would Guns N’ Roses release a list of North American cities if they were NOT intending to tour? GNR put out a video listing 21 cities with the song “Patience” playing over it and the words “Coming Summer 2016.” GNR featuring Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan are playing a handful of shows this spring, including Coachella next month. Last week, multiple outlets reported Rose may join AC/DC on that band’s tour.
