The sponsor of Georgia’s contentious bill protecting opponents of same-sex marriage defends the proposal after a wave of opposition from big-name corporations and sports organizations. Republican Senator Greg Kirk says Governor Nathan Deal needs to decide whether the state is “intolerant” of people who believe marriage should be between a man and a woman. Disney and Marvel studios have called on the Governor to veto the bill, threatening to stop shooting films in the state if he doesn’t. Deal has until May 3 to sign or veto the bill.
There’s a great disturbance in the force as “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has turned up on piracy sites. The 7th Star Wars film is scheduled to be released as a digital download on April 1st, with the blu-ray edition releasing four days later. Torrent-freak, a privacy publication, says 250,000 people downloaded the illegal, blu-ray quality version within the first 12 hours of it being online.
The NFL plans several rule changes for the upcoming season. Most notable: Touchbacks will now be placed on the 25 yard line, instead of the 20. Football officials hope this will encourage players not to run the ball out of the end zone, risking injury.
Guns and Roses frontman Axl Rose may soon add “Back in Black” and “Thunderstruck” to his performance routine. AC/DC posted on its website that lead singer Brian Johnson left the band after doctors warned him he may go deaf. Multiple outlets then reported Axl Rose may be the band’s singer on tour.
A picture of a retired David Letterman has been making the rounds online. TMZ captured a shot of a bald and bearded Letterman exercising on the beach. Letterman told them while he was on air, he thought his job was of great importance. 10 months into retirement, Letterman says he realizes that was just silliness and he feels foolish for being misguided by his ego for so many years.
