What’s Trending? Opening Day, Dolly & Katy, and Kesha

The MLB season launched Sunday with an appetizer of games, concluding with the Royals besting the Mets in a World Series rematch. But Royal’s Pitcher Edinson Vólquez wore the wrong cap during the first inning. His featured the Royals’ crown logo… while the rest of the team just had the letter K-C stitched in gold. 12 games kick off the traditional opening day today — with the Astros and Yankees leading off at 1pm.

Kesha says she refused a deal to make her legal problems go away. Kesha writes on Instagram she was offered her “freedom” if she were “to lie.” She says she would have to apologize publicly and say she was never raped. Kesha has been involved in a legal dispute with producer Dr. Luke. She says he raped her a decade ago and wants out of her contract with him. He says she’s making it up to get out of the contract.

Jason Aldean didn’t think it was in the cards for him to win entertainer of the year at the Academy of Country Music Awards.  He beat out Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, Garth Brooks and Eric Church for that honor. But Chris Stapleton took home the most prizes. He won album, song, male vocalist and new male vocalist of the year.

Dolly Parton picked up the Tex Ritter Award, for her hit movie, “Coat Of Many Colors.” She then took to the stage with Katy Perry to perform the song the movie was based on, before the duo ripped into “Jolene” and “9 to 5.” Perry has some Nashville roots. She cut a contemporary christian album in the Music City before going pop.

Even superheroes have their weaknesses. Word of mouth may be kryptonite for the movie “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” The latest box office numbers show the movie dropped 68-percent of its haul during its second weekend in theaters. There’s usually a drop off between week one and week two – but this decline is quite steep. Still, Batman v Superman won the box office race with a second week total of more than 52-million dollars.
