Whitfield County Courthouse temporary ramp

WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — Those who pay a visit to the Whitfield County Courthouse may notice some renovations at this time.

The county said on Monday that they are working to make the courthouse accessible for all residents.

For now, Whitfield County has implemented a temporary ramp. They say it will complement the elevators at the outside entrance of the courthouse.

They are making these renovations now because the county expects an increased courthouse use soon due to voting.

While the current ramp is temporary, the county says they plan to create a permanent ramp structure that matches the architectural style of the courthouse.

The ramp is meant to make it easy to enter and exit the courthouse for those with mobility challenges, strollers and heavy loads.

“This renovation was needed,” said County Administrator Bob Sivick. “Regardless of ability or circumstance, the entry needs to be readily accessible for the people visiting the courthouse.”
