Whitfield County home invasion suspect caught
Whitfield County, GA (WDEF) – Whitfield County deputies arrest a wanted home invasion suspect in East Ridge Friday.
26–year–old Joshua David Cole faces multiple charges.
Officials say an elderly Lake Katherine Road resident heard a noise in his house around 3:30 a.m. on December 16th.
He found Cole inside his home.
Officials say Cole overpowered the elderly victim, who lived alone, and restrained him with masking tape for several hours.
Officials say Cole stole the victim’s guns, credit cards, car and more.
After Cole, left the victim was able to get to a neighbor’s house and call authorities.
The victim was bruised, but didn’t require medical attention.
Deputies worked with the GBI and got a sketch of the suspect.
Law enforcement released the sketch to the media and public and were able to identify the suspect as Cole.
Investigators found out that Cole had been staying with a friend in East Ridge for several nights and found the victim’s car there.
The suspect was not there at the time.
Whitfield County deputies later spotted Cole in a warehouse parking lot nearby.
Cole ran, but was caught.
Officials say he threw down a gun while he was running, but it was recovered.
Cole faces charges of Burglary, False Imprisonment, Theft by Taking, Armed Robbery, Financial Transaction Card Theft and Fraud, Terroristic Threats and Acts,Possession of Firearm during theCommission of a Felony, Exploitation and Intimidation of an Elder Person, and more.
