Whitfield County splits up state math tests
DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – Whitfield County Schools have decided to give students a break on math, but only for a day.
The system asked the state for permission to break up the math portion of the Georgia Milestones assessment over two days instead of one.
Each section takes about 85 minutes of focused attention by the student.
“Testing both sections in one day would have required a longer school day and delayed bus schedules,” said Dr. Audrey Williams, assistant superintendent of assessment and accountability. “We want to make testing less stressful for students and their families and hope spreading the assessment over two days is helpful.”
And that means cutting the three hour math test in half.
