Whitwell man charged with having more than 400 fentanyl pills

DUNLAP, Tenn. (WDEF) — Dunlap police arrested a Whitwell man during a traffic stop when they learned he had outstanding warrants.

Dunlap police stopped Young for a traffic violation on Rankin Avenue in Dunlap. During the traffic stop, officers learned that Young had outstanding warrants in Marion County for escape and violation of community corrections.

Police said they then placed him in custody.

After getting him into custody, officers searched Young and his car to find many drugs and a gun.

They found a total of 489 counterfeit pressed fentanyl pills, according to the police department.

Officers said they also found 51 grams of meth and three alprazolam pills.

They seized a Glock handgun and 83 rounds of ammunition.

There were two other people in the car, along with a small child. But Young told officers that everything belonged to him.

Police then booked Young into the Sequatchie County Jail. He is scheduled to be in court on December 15.

Young is charged with possession of fentanyl for resale, possession of alprazolam, possession of meth for resale, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, child endangerment, unlawful possession of a weapon, driving while in possession of meth and tampering with evidence.

In addition, officers said they cited him for failure to signal and no insurance.
