Whitwell man throws drugs out of car during police chase

DUNLAP, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Whitwell man faces multiple felony charges after fleeing from police and throwing drugs out of the car.

Dunlap officers attempted to pull over a man driving a Toyota Camry on Wednesday around 11 p.m. Police said the car was driving erratic on Highway 28 in Dunlap city limits.

The Dunlap Police Department identified the driver of the Toyota as Aaron Daniels.

Officers tried to pull over Daniels, who pulled over initially but then fled.

The police department said they started a pursuit of Daniels, who then exceeded 100 miles per hour.

Daniels then started throwing drugs out of the car while driving toward the Marion County line, police said.

They said he then drove into a field, got out of the car and fled on foot.

Officers said they found 85 fentanyl pills in plain view in his car.

They searched the area and found him at a nearby house, according to officers.

Dunlap police then charged Daniels with two felony charges: felonious possession of fentanyl and felony evading. They also charged him with reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence and evading arrest.
