Window tint violation results in arrest of 3 people
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) -What started out as a possible window tint violation landed 3 people in custody on weapons and drug charges.
On Tuesday, around 10:15 A.M., a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office stopped a gray Dodge car for a possible window tint violation near the 5900 block of Brainerd Road. The driver pulled into the parking lot of the Cube Smart Storage.
The driver was identified as Demarius Patrick, and as the deputy was talking to the driver, a strong smell of marijuana was coming from the car.
The deputy searched the car and found 5 firearms, several boxes of ammo, more than 19 grams of marijuana, and over 20 grams of THC wax.
In addition to Patrick, two juveniles were also in the car. Their mother was contacted and said she was the owner of the storage unit. She authorized a search of its contents.
Deputies found 7 more firearms, including a stolen firearm, and two handguns that were modified to become a fully automatic handgun.
In addition to the fire arms, the car and over $2300 was seized.
All three suspects have been charged with the following:
(2) Counts of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
(1) Count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
(1) Count Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony
(1) Count of Theft of a Firearm
(2) Counts of Possession of Drugs for Resale
(1) Count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Additionally, Demarius Patrick is being charged with a Window Tint Violation, which is what he was originally stopped for.
Demarius Patrick was transported and booked into the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center. The two juveniles have been taken to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center.
