Witness holds Burglary Suspects at Gunpoint

Fort Payne, AL (WDEF) – When deputies showed up to a burglary call on Thursday, they found the suspects were already in custody.

A citizen spotted the men climbing in a rear window of the business on County Road 835.

The witness then caught them leaving with merchandise and pulled a gun.

The citizen held them at gunpoint until officers arrived.

62 year old Aubery Eugene McBride of Fort Payne and 38 year old Jason Scott McBride of Henagar face burglary charges.

Dekalb county Sheriff Jimmy Harris says “I would like to thank the citizen for being so observant and contacting the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office about this incident. Even though we don’t ever advise a citizen to put their self in danger we are thankful that he did. The deputies were on scene within 7 minutes and were able to make these arrest without incident because of the citizens’ actions.”
