Woman charged with misleading deputies in last week’s Rossville manhunt
LAFAYETTE, Georgia (WDEF) – A woman has been charged for misleading investigators in the manhunt last week near Rossville.
The Sheriff’s Department was embarrassed last week when they named two men as the suspects of the manhunt, but then later said they were not.
Now 32 year old Madison Michelle Conrad has been charged with making false statements and hindering apprehension of a criminal.
They say she told them that the two wrong men were using her car to mislead investigators.
Deputies later tracked down both men and found they could not have been involved (One was at home all day, the other still in prison.)
They arrested her last Wednesday.
Later on Wednesday, they arrested Robert Eric Owenby for the chase and shooting at police officers.
The second man ran before the shooting broke out.
Investigators have identified him and determined “he did not have criminal intent to commit a crime when he exited the moving vehicle.”
