Woman charged with choking man in the park Sunday

CLEVELAND, Tennessee (WDEF) – Cleveland officers have charged a woman with choking a man in the park.

Deputies were called to Johnston Park on Sunday for a person screaming.

When the officer arrived, he saw a woman leaving in a hurry.

She refused to stop for him, just as another man came claiming that she had just choked him.

The officer caught up with her under the overhang at the front of the summit, but she still refused to stop.

The officer said she fought him as he took her into custody.

He says he found two glass pipes and a straw inside her backpack.

The man who was with her said he tried to take the backpack from her and that’s when she choked him.

Stephanie Barnes was charged with Domestic Assault, Resisting Arrest and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
