Woman convicted of killing husband while he was driving them on I 75

RINGGOLD, Georgia (WDEF) – A wife has been convicted of killing her husband while they were driving down I 75.

It happened in the early morning hours of March 1, 2020.

There were three people in the vehicle at the time.

Noel Lopez was driving with his wife Belinda and her friend Angelica Juarez as passengers.

The trio were returning home to Dalton after a night at a club in Chattanooga.

Prosecutors say the couple began arguing on the way, which sent Belinda into a rage.

They say she attacked her husband, scratching his face and body, hitting him with a gun and then shooting him in the head.

The vehicle came to a stop in the middle of I 75 near the Ringgold exit.

Belinda called law enforcement.

Investigators say she gave several conflicting versions on what happened, but had a history of domestic assault against her husband.

After a week-long trial, the jury returned a verdict Friday evening, convicting Lopez of murder and other charges.
