Woman injured after being pulled from burning Atlanta condo

ATLANTA (AP) — Fire officials say a woman was severely injured in a fire after being pulled from a burning second-story condominium in Atlanta.

Atlanta fire spokesman Cortez Stafford tells multiple news outlets that fire crews arrived to flames erupting from two condos around 4 a.m. Sunday that quickly spread into the attic of the four-unit building before rescuing the 37-year-old woman. The woman’s dog was killed in the fire in which officials believe started in the unit below.

Stafford says fire crews found the woman unconscious and not breathing. She had burns covering more than 40 percent of her body.

The unidentified woman was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and in critical condition.

Stafford says a man in the first-floor unit was taken to the hospital with minor burns to his head.
