Women Build Home Dedication Held
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga dedicated a new home on February 14 for a local mother and daughter, marking the completion of their journey through the Women Build homeownership program.
Sherry and Shirley Pitner were selected as the 2024 Women Build homeowners and broke ground on their home in March 2025.
Since then, they have completed the required sweat‑equity hours and homeowner education classes necessary to qualify for Habitat homeownership.
The dedication event brought together volunteers and sponsors who supported the project, and highlights the collaborative effort involved in Women Build.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga says this home was supported in part by funding from the Tennessee Housing Development Agency through a partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Tennessee.
The Pitners will purchase the home through a 0%, 30‑year mortgage that allows them to build equity over time.
