Women’s History Month March
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – March is here and so is Womens History Month and today at Coolidge Park, members of the New Suffragette and Missy Crutchfield’s campaign marched to protest the lack of women in office.
“The big message today is we bring change but we also going to inspire our young people to run for office because one of the other ways we can do it is because we feel like what’s happening in Nashville or in Washington D.C. and we don’t have the right leadership then we are going to run,” said Crutchfield.
While this isn’t just about women in office, members of the Women’s History March believe that the message they are sending to people is across the world and the change that needs to be made.
“I think it’s really important that as an American and as somebody who grew up in Tennessee that if I’m going to fight for the rights of women here, then I have to stand up for the rights of women everywhere,” said Jannat Saeed, a student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
The future of our society and the motivation for women to be in office is being heard and Missy Crutchfield believes someone needs to take a stand and she is running for office to make a change.
“It’s really imperative that we vote because this is the base this is the foundation for any of us to make the changes that we want and it’s not just for women, it’s not just for Tennessean’s, this is for everyone,” said Jannat.
