Wreaths Across Chattanooga honors fallen Veterans
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – In Chattanooga today, volunteers gathered to honor fallen service members during Wreaths Across Chattanooga.
Hundreds of volunteers placed wreaths on veterans’ graves at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, pausing to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to the nation.
Captain Mickey McCamish says the mission behind the event is simple.
He explained that Wreaths Across Chattanooga exists to remember the fallen, honor those who currently serve, and teach future generations the value of freedom.
While the event was a success, he says the goal moving forward is even bigger.
“It was really a great day. About 4,000 volunteers showed up, and the wreaths were placed very quickly. The only disappointment was that we did not quite cover the entire cemetery. Wreaths Across Chattanooga is now taking on a bigger goal, which is to provide all 51,000 wreaths.”
Each wreath placed represents a life remembered and a promise that their service will never be forgotten.
