YFD Chattanooga City-Wide Book Drive kicks off at Carver YFD Wednesday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The effort to promote literacy in Hamilton County Schools got a big shot in the arm Wednesday.
Chattanooga’s third annual Youth and Family Development Department citywide book drive began.
Community members and city councilmen joined the kick-off celebration at the Carver Y.F.D. Center on North Orchard Knob.
You can help by donating new or gently used pre-kindergarten through high school aged books.
Jason McKinney serves as the Y.F.D. Deputy Administrator. He said, “The idea is that we want to make sure that all students and kids can have books to read and be able to expand their love for books to become life-long learners.”
You can drop off books through April 12th at all 17 Chattanooga rec centers, all four branches of the Chattanooga Public Library, and at City Hall.
