YMCA kicks off new fundraising event
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The YMCA is kicking off a massive fundraiser today.
They are inviting the community to participate in a series of health and wellness events.
The events include multiple bike-a-thons and a swim-a-thons, as well as a military fitness competition, graded by local soldiers and YMCA staff.
All of the proceeds from each event will go back into the community to support programs such as cancer survivor programs, swimming lessons, after school care, adaptive programs, income-based memberships and more!
Today’s event at the Hixson ‘Y’ was to raise funds for Parkinson’s disease.
The bike-a-thon teamed up with multiple other classes like a mobility class and a boxing class to help fund a cure for Parkinson’s.
Events are open to both members and non-members and will take place during different times over the next two weeks.
You can check your local ‘Y’ to see what events are coming to you.
