Young woman fatally injured after ‘negligent discharge’ of firearm

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga police investigate an apparent accidental shooting in East Lake.

It happened after noon today.

Police say several people were visiting the home in the 1200 block of Lewis Street.

Chief Fletcher says a young woman was shot when someone “negligently discharged” a gun inside.

The victim, who has yet to be identified, is reported to have died from her injuries.

Police continue to investigate the case.
